IoT Solution Architect reporting to the Head Pre-Sales Engineering & Architecture located in Centurion, Pretoria
The primary mission of the IoT Solution Architect is to deliver business transformation through the application of IoT by changing the rules of engagements in today’s industry paradigms.
Key Result Areas (Major Accountabilities)
Engage with customers across the globe to identify areas of transformation through IoT, envision and articulate potential business solutions and value propositions to the customer.
Envision and develop end-to-and solution architecture for IoT based business solutions spanning devices, gateways, connectivity, cloud, apps, integration, analytics and security layers, addressing functional and non-functional aspects.
Evangelize IoT platform products, work with business product owners, and define architecture roadmaps, support and guide project managers as well as implementation teams.
Sizing of solution components, working out costing, deriving key commercial matrices like TCO, CAPEX and OPEX, providing trade-offs, and contributing to pricing strategies.
Work in implementation teams and provide architecture governance, technical and design guidance to implementation teams, own, articulate and defend the end-to-end solutions with customer stakeholders.
Support sales by authoring competent solution proposals working with internal stakeholders, product owners and third-party technology partners. Articulate and defend solutions with customer stakeholders.
Own and establish best practices in architecture, design and development, influence over DevOps process and tools. Guide and mentor development teams in driving best practices in engineering and software development.
Represent IoT.nxt at industry events and customer workshops and present IoT.nxt products and platform offerings

Knowledge, Skills, Experience
Exhibit knowledge of telematics, M2M, Internet of Things (IoT) and/or Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)
Expertise in Cloud computing, with implementation experience in either of Azure or AWS.
Experience in platform architecture and engineering non-functional including availability, scalability, reliability, performance, interoperability.
Be on top of trends and technologies on Digital, IoT, cloud, big data, analytics and AI, evaluate technologies and perform trade-offs.
Experience and awareness of IoT business applications across Industry verticals covering telecommunication, Manufacturing, Smart Cities and buildings, Energy, Automobiles, connected industrial and consumer products and Healthcare
Exhibit knowledge of Waterfall and Agile delivery methods
Systems / Software / Principles – Cloud based, Platform as a Service, Big Data
Should understand integration via REST API, Logical data modelling using ER diagramming.
Knowledge of End-to-end security for IoT security spanning across edge layer security, application, transport, network, cloud and infrastructure security controls, IDAM as well as data privacy and protection controls.
Knowledge and awareness on IoT gateways products, agents, sensors and devices.
Knowledge of broad spectrum of IoT and Digital technologies including but not limited to below, deep expertise in few of them.
