IoT.nxt® celebrates Women’s Month with outreach drive

Centurion, South Africa. 27 August 2020

Innovative IoT technology company IoT.nxt is on track to reach its goal of raising R1 million for charitable causes by the end of the year and is now stepping up the company’s ‘A Time to Give’ project with a special initiative for Women’s Month.

“Within weeks of the introduction of strict lockdown measures to limit the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact on many communities was evident. We are fortunate to be growing during the current challenging time and, realising the plight of others, immediately launched an internal campaign not only to raise funds but to involve our team in volunteering. The enthusiasm is such that we have had to limit numbers,” says IoT.nxt Co-founder and CEO, Nico Steyn.

The Women’s Month initiative will focus on a baby drive in support of mothers who cannot afford the necessary care products for infants in an around IoT.nxt’s head office in Centurion. This will be managed in association with a partner, The Christian Revival Church (CRC), through its Pretoria chapter.

“Forming partnerships is a cornerstone of our business strategy and considering the scale of our ‘A Time to Give’ project, working with a partner was the obvious choice,” Steyn says.
For the baby drive CRC will purchase and collect the required items and IoT.nxt’s volunteers will help with the packing of the care packages to be ready for distribution to mothers in hospitals, children’s homes, baby houses, and single and new mothers in need all across Pretoria during the last week of August. Due to COVID-19 regulations, the donations will only be dropped off at the identified facilities.

Since the launch of ‘A Time to Give’ a total of just more than R500 000 has been pledged. All pledges and donations made by the team are matched by the IoT.nxt executive team and the company. Volunteering projects already completed include a food parcel distribution drive, donation of blankets and warm clothing and a reach out day at Precious Blessings Baby House.
